Creating the buzz: Center Gallery

1-3vert_centergallery_ad_1-6-09Not even a year old, Center Gallery has already claimed a spot as one as one of Wichita’s top and most favored galleries. Kris went to college with gallery owner Linda Robinson, who engaged us to create a buzz about Center Gallery to and increase awareness of its benefit to the Wichita community.

John helped Linda put the final touches on her website and before the doors at Center Gallery were even open we were scurrying around securing a placement in the “Scene” section of Wichita magazine and preparing the local art crowd for the arrival of the new gallery that would showcase art photography.

Linda developed a full slate of compelling exhibits. The first, “Left of Center,” featured eight photographers from across the country. It was followed a month later by “Ten X Ten,” an interpretive display of local and regional artists. Quickly, Center Gallery was established as a gallery featuring the work of top-notch talent.

Center Gallery continues to be a popular stop on the trolley route that carries participants in the Wichita’s final Friday art gallery crawl. And the gallery – again, less than a year in, was voted one of Wichita’s Best Art Galleries by Wichita magazine.

We forecasted the success of Center Gallery based on Linda’s skill, aesthetic, and tenacity. We didn’t seek a front page story in the local paper or a segment on the prime time news but instead implemented a detailed plan that included targeted media relations, one well placed ad, some public radio advertising and buzz marketing. The efforts have helped establish Center Gallery as a mainstay of the local art scene.
