Getting Back To Your Passion

I’ve been writing a lot lately about key elements to working the most effectively and efficiently that you can, and I feel like I’ve left out the most important one. Passion! It’s what drives us to accomplish the things we wish to accomplish in life. Not the things we feel like we have to accomplish, but the things we really want to.

Remember what it was that first snagged your interest in your field? What was it that made you decide to go into whatever it is you do? Are you still aware of this motivational force today, or have you moved too far away from you own interest to feel the passion you once did? This is something I definitely have to consider from time to time, to make sure my motivation is driving me in the right direction.

It’s always a good reminder to think back on what it is you love about whatever is it you do. Sometimes a reevaluation is in order to reposition yourself to be in line with your true passion. It’s very easy to be pulled off track from this with stresses of progress and finance breathing down our necks, but losing sight of your passion make work miserable.

So take a step back, look at what you’re doing. How do you feel about it? Do you enjoy it the same way you once did? What passion drove you to pursue your field in the first place? Thinking back to these things can refresh your attitude towards your work, or help to reposition yourself in the right direction. It’s important to remember to do what you love, and love what you do, otherwise what’s the point?
